So, I’ve been eyeing Toteme for a while now, right? That minimalist, chic vibe just speaks to me. When I found out they were opening a store in NYC, I knew I had to go check it out. It’s their first U.S. location, can you believe it? So, naturally, I marked the date on my calendar – July 28th, the grand opening!
I hopped on the subway and made my way down to SoHo. The store is on 49 Mercer Street, a pretty cool area with lots of other high-end shops. Walking up, the store’s exterior was so sleek and modern, it just screams “Toteme.” I pushed open the door, and it’s like stepping into a minimalist’s dream.
The space is huge, 3,400 square feet to be exact. It has this Upper East Side spirit, which makes sense. They did a good job with the design. It’s bold but still so clean and open. One of the first things I noticed was this crazy limestone shelf. But instead of books, it was filled with Toteme’s leather bags! Each bag was displayed like a piece of art. It’s quite expressive.
I spent a good chunk of time just wandering around, touching all the fabrics. They have everything – clothes, shoes, accessories. Everything is made in Italy, which explains the high quality feel. This is not fast fashion, folks. You can tell these pieces are made to last. They’ve got some shoes displayed that you can find online, but it’s way better seeing them in person.
The staff was super friendly and helpful, not pushy at all. They let me browse at my own pace but were there to answer any questions I had. I tried on a few things – a gorgeous silk scarf, a perfectly tailored blazer, and some killer boots. It is hard to choose!
Honestly, the whole experience was just amazing. Toteme really nailed it with this store. It’s more than just a place to shop; it’s like an experience. I didn’t end up buying anything that day, but it’s only a matter of time before I’m back to snag that blazer.
