Alright, let’s talk about the Ontario Reindeer Run 2023. Man, what a day that was!

It all started a few months ago when I saw a poster about this run. I thought, “Why not?” I’ve always liked a good challenge, and this seemed like a fun one. Plus, it’s for a good cause, supporting local charities. So, I signed up online – super easy, by the way. They just asked for some basic info and my shirt size, boom, I’m in!

Then came the waiting game. But I didn’t just sit around. I kicked off my training. Nothing too crazy, just some regular jogs around the neighborhood, a few longer runs on weekends. I even hit the gym a couple of times a week to build up some strength. I wanted to be ready, you know? Not to win or anything, just to finish and feel good about it.

As the day got closer, I started getting my gear ready. I picked up a new pair of running shoes – gotta have good shoes for these things. And of course, I made sure I had some comfy running clothes. Oh, and I can’t forget about the reindeer antlers! They gave those out to everyone who registered, which I thought was a really nice touch. I even practiced running with them on, just to get used to the feel.

Race day finally arrived. I woke up early, had a good breakfast – oatmeal and a banana, my usual pre-run meal. Headed out to the starting point, and man, the energy there was just electric. So many people, all dressed up, some in full-on reindeer costumes. It was awesome! I did some warm-up stretches, chatted with a few other runners, and before I knew it, we were off!

The run itself was… well, it was a run. It was tough at times, I won’t lie. There were a few hills that really got my legs burning. But the crowd was amazing, cheering us on. And the other runners were super supportive too. We were all in it together, you know? I even made a few friends along the way. We were all huffing and puffing, but we kept each other going.

  • Pushed through the first few kilometers, feeling good.
  • Hit a bit of a wall around the halfway mark, but kept going.
  • Got my second wind near the end, thanks to the cheering crowd.

Finally, I crossed the finish line. What a feeling! I was tired, sure, but also so pumped. I got my medal, which, of course, I wore proudly. Hung around for a bit, cheered on other runners, soaked up the atmosphere. They even had free hot chocolate for the participants – perfect for a chilly day.

So, that’s my story of the Ontario Reindeer Run 2023. It was an amazing experience, start to finish. Would I do it again? Absolutely! It was tough, it was fun, and it was all for a great cause. Plus, I got a cool medal and a great story out of it. If you ever get a chance to do something like this, I highly recommend it. Just remember to train a bit, wear comfy shoes, and enjoy the ride!
