So, I finally made it to the new Toteme store in NYC, the one up on Madison Avenue. Let me tell you, this place is something else.
First off, I’ve been following Toteme for a while now. You know, that Swedish brand that’s all about clean lines and that minimalist aesthetic? Well, they already had a store in SoHo, which I’ve been to a couple of times. It’s cool, very classic Toteme. But this new spot on the Upper East Side? Totally different vibe.
I heard they were opening a second location here in the city, and I was super curious to see how they’d make it stand out. And boy, did they deliver.
Getting There
I hopped on the subway and made my way uptown. The store’s right there on Madison, pretty easy to find. As soon as I got there, I could tell this was going to be a different experience.
Stepping Inside
- The Space: It’s bold, I mean, really bold. They’ve mixed Toteme’s usual minimalist style with some really unexpected, playful elements. I heard they worked with Halleroed, who they’ve collaborated with before. These guys know what they’re doing.
- Layout: It’s not your typical, all-on-one-floor setup. There’s an upstairs area too, which makes it feel even bigger. They’ve got these amazing pieces scattered around – it felt like walking through a modern art gallery as much as a store.
Browsing the Collection
Of course, I was there for the clothes too. Toteme is my go-to for pieces that feel both cozy and chic. Their outerwear is seriously the best. And let me tell you, the selection in this store did not disappoint. I tried on a few coats, and let’s just say my credit card took a bit of a hit.
Overall Impressions
This new Toteme store is definitely worth checking out. Whether you’re a longtime fan of the brand or just curious about their style, it’s a unique shopping experience. They’ve managed to create a space that’s both true to their minimalist roots and also super expressive and fun. I’m already planning my next visit – maybe I’ll snag one of those chic office staples they’re known for.
Toteme is like this little universe of style, you know? Founded by Elin Kling and Karl Lindman, these Swedes just get it. It’s luxury, but not in your face about it. If you’re in New York, you gotta check it out. Trust me.
