Okay, so today I want to talk about this Toteme sarong thing I’ve been trying to style. It’s been a bit of a journey, let me tell you.
First off, I saw some cool ideas on the internet. It said sarongs aren’t just for the beach anymore. People are using them like regular clothes, which I thought was pretty neat. So I got myself a Toteme sarong. I thought, “How hard could it be?”

The first thing I tried was making it into a maxi skirt. I wrapped it around my waist, just like the pictures showed. Then I tied a double knot in the front. It looked okay, but it felt a little loose. I was worried it might fall off if I moved too much.
- Wrap around waist.
- Tie a double knot.
- Check for looseness.
Next, I tried wearing it as a top. I saw a picture of a girl who did this, and she looked amazing. But when I tried it, I just couldn’t get it right. It kept slipping, and I was scared I might accidentally flash someone. So, that was a no-go.
Making It Work
I wasn’t giving up, though. I played around with it some more and finally figured out a way to make it work as a skirt. I found that if I folded it in half before wrapping it, it felt more secure. And instead of a double knot, I tied it in a bow. That seemed to hold better.
So now, I can wear my Toteme sarong as a skirt, and it actually stays put. I pair it with a simple tank top and some sandals, and it looks pretty good. It’s still not the most practical thing to wear, but I’m glad I figured out how to make it work for me. It’s all about experimenting and finding what works best for your body and style.
I’m still learning, and maybe I’ll find other ways to wear it in the future. It’s a fun little project, and I’m happy to share my progress with you all.
